Embedding fonts in Indesign

By default, Indesign is supposed to embed fonts automatically. However, you can follow the following steps to make sure the fonts are embedded properly.

  1. Open the file in Indesign. Go to File --> Export. In the "Save as type" field, select "Adobe PDF", type the file name, and click on Save.
  2. From the "Adobe PDF Preset" dropdown menu, choose the required preset. If you are sending the file for printing, choose "Press Quality".
  3. Go to "Advance", and set the percentage of the option "Subset fonts when percent of characters used is less than:" as required. This option will allow you either to subset fonts or to embed the whole fonts. If you put 0%, then Indesign will embed the entire font, otherwise, Indesign will embed certain characters of a font as soon as certain percentage of those characters is used.
  4. Make any other required changes to the files settings, then click Export.
